Julius Mikula Holds His Own in Extreme Conditions: Takes 11th Overall from Lugo

A muddy and rainy weekend welcomed the MXGP World Championship riders in Lugo, Spain, where another demanding round of this year's season took place. The ever-changing weather and heavily rutted track put the riders' equipment, fitness, and mental toughness to the test. Julius Mikula, riding for the TM Moto CRD Motosport team, overcame setbacks during Saturday's program and delivered a determined performance in Sunday's motos, earning a solid 11th place overall for the weekend.

Saturday Setback in Qualifying

Saturday's qualifying race made it clear that this weekend would be anything but easy. The wet track quickly turned into deep mud, and the demanding conditions put both riders and machines under immense pressure. Julius entered the session focused and determined, but a technical issue with the bike forced him to retire early. As a result, he was left with a less-than-ideal gate pick for Sunday's main races.

Sunday Comeback in Style

Sunday's program kicked off with the morning warm-up, giving Mikula a chance to readapt to the track's extreme conditions. In both main races, he demonstrated resilience and maturity. The first moto, held on an extremely muddy track riddled with deep ruts, saw Mikula ride with composure and, most importantly, without mistakes. Thanks to his consistent pace and tactical approach, he crossed the line in an excellent 12th place.

The second moto was just as demanding, but Jula once again handled the tough conditions with confidence, securing a 14th-place finish. Combined with his earlier result, this earned him 11th overall in this round of the MXGP World Championship—an important haul of championship points and a clear demonstration of his ability to adapt to unpredictable conditions.

Weekend Recap

Despite Saturday's technical setbacks, Julius Mikula's performance can be rated as highly commendable. While many riders struggled with mechanical issues, crashes, or poor line choices, Jula proved he can handle even the toughest tracks and adapt to the unpredictable challenges brought by the weather.

He leaves Lugo with a valuable 16 points toward the overall MXGP standings, reinforcing his consistent form this season. Once again, this weekend showed that Julius Mikula is among the rising talents on the world stage—unfazed by even the most difficult conditions.

The Rider's Perspective: Julius Mikula

Press Release – MXGP LugoThis past weekend, we took part in another round of the MXGP series, this time in Lugo, Spain. Saturday's track was fast and smooth, but unfortunately, we faced technical issues throughout the day. These problems peaked during the qualifying race, where I was forced to retire early, which significantly affected my starting position for Sunday's motos. Thanks to the great work of the team, the issue was resolved overnight and the bike ran perfectly on Sunday. In the first moto, I was fighting around 11th place and had a chance to move into 9th on the final lap, but I chose the wrong line, got stuck in the mud, and finished 12th.The second moto was held under ideal weather conditions, but the track was extremely rough – full of ruts, holes, and square-edge bumps. I had good speed, but a small mistake and a crash pushed me back to 14th at the finish.
Big thanks to everyone who supports me – the team, my family, and all the fans. Despite the setbacks, it was an important weekend and we'll keep pushing forward!
