MXGP Round 1: Argentina
Córdoba, Argentina – March 2–3, 2025
The MXGP World Championship kicked off in Argentina on the newly built Infinito track in Córdoba. The circuit, which immediately received positive feedback, featured excellent soil that remained in great condition despite heavy rainfall.
For Julius Mikula, this event marked his debut in the championship aboard the TM MX 250 FI. During Saturday's sessions, he showed promising pace. Due to the absence of a timed qualification, he was placed 20th on the starting grid for the main race. In the qualifying race itself, he fought hard, made solid progress through the field, and crossed the finish line in 14th place.
Sunday's Races
Track conditions were challenging after the overnight rain, but the grip on the surface actually improved.
First Race
Julius had a good start, but after the opening lap, he found himself in 20th position. He quickly settled into a strong rhythm, began reeling in his competitors, and started moving up the field. Midway through the race, he was within striking distance of the top 10, but a collision with another rider slowed his progress. Nevertheless, he finished the race in a solid 13th place.
Second Race
The second moto proved to be more physically demanding for Julius, particularly due to lingering health issues. Although he was running near 10th place at the start and stayed in touch with the leading group, he gradually began to fade and eventually crossed the finish line in 19th.
Overall, Julius leaves the opening round of the season with 18th place in the overall standings, which also places him 18th in the current MX2 World Championship standings.
